SUMMARY:Daughter's of the American Revolution Exhibit opens!
DESCRIPTION:As our nation approaches its 250th birthday this year\, the Princeton-Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution hope you will join us as we pay tribute to Bureau County’s representation in the Revolutionary War\, the crucial period that secured the independence we so joyously celebrate on July 4th. \nDaughters of the American Revolution proudly trace their lineage to family members who valiantly fought or served during the battle for our country’s freedom.  Since 1896\, nearly 400 DAR women from Bureau County have carried forth a true American legacy by honoring their families’ Revolutionary War patriots through their dedicated acts of service and patriotism in our community. \nPlease join us at the Stash Stalter Matson Building in Princeton June 13th through July 9th  to enjoy stories of these wonderful women and the Revolutionary War patriots of their families.  You will find dresses of their era along with biographies of the women and their service to our community.  Included in the display are pictures and posters describing their family’s exciting Revolutionary War service ranging from marching bravely without weapons as drummers and fifers\, to crossing the Delaware as young soldiers with George Washington\, and even serving as Continental Congress delegates who risked their lives as they signed the Declaration of Independence.   We hope you will enjoy all of the stories as we commemorate these women and their Revolutionary War heritage. \nAs you celebrate America 250\, please make this display a part of your plans as it truly honors the enduring spirit of the Patriots who shaped our nation.
